Lesson Plan
This is my new lesson plan for the Winter 2012 semester.
I will draw daily. I will practice drawing with the aid of Bert Dodson's Keys to Drawing.
I will listen to an Art Biz Blog podcast every other day for my business study. This has so far been the most helpful thing I've encountered for running an art business.
I will watch an episode of Art:21 twice a week.
Daily, I will work on my surface design projects to sell.
Finally, I will complete a weaving assignment this semester, depending on when I can get the materials.

Here is my lesson plan for the week of August 29th to September 3rd:
Warm up: daily exercise from the Crafter's Devotional: 365 Days of Tips, Tricks, and Techniques for Unlocking Your Creative Spirit by Barbara R. Call and Judy Love. Sometimes the exercises in this book work better for me than others, but it usually gets my mind and creativity going in any case.
Lecture: I listen to a podcast, I-Tunes U lecture, Ted Talk, or Academic Earth. For Audio-only lectures, I can work on a craft that requires little attention. I seem to absorb the material much better this way than I would if I took notes: I am a terrible note taker.
Drawing practice: I may leave the house for this and find a location with something unfamiliar to draw.
Surface Design: study and apply new surface design techniques.
Business Study: I am learning everything I can about having a small business right now. I am using The Boss of You: Everything a Woman Needs to Know to Start, Run, and Maintain a Her Own Business, which includes both reading and activities to develop your business goals.
Design: I am going to use Art Fundamentals: Theory and Practice when it comes in at the Library.
Personal Projects: a time to work on stuff for myself, for gifts, or to sell.
Online time: updating this website, working on improving my Etsy site, interacting with the UnCollege crowd, and general promotion of myself.
All this will probably add up to more than an 8 hour day, so I will have to see how this fits in with the rest of my life.
